Senior API Developer



A senior API developer will design, develop, and train other developers to create well written, high performing APIs and Microservices. They will provide thought leadership to efficiently implement reusable, maintainable and testable software while ensuring it meets functionality, security, and quality requirements. The senior API developer will also contribute to developing and maintaining design and coding standards, participate in technical discussions around CI/CD and DevOps functions. They will also ensure effective management of all the enterprise services through a well-documented service catalog.





Key Responsibilities:




  • Adopts industry standard ways to unleash the value of enterprise information, reducing the friction of integration and enabling speed and agility

  • Works with the service providers, service delivery teams and business users to determine scope of business services.

  • Reviews and understands the inputs and outputs typically required for the services being provided.

  • Build an integration Architecture that allows for secured and controlled API access

  • Communicates the inputs and outputs needed to the 3rd party providers by clearly documenting specifications required for the services

  • Translates the integration requirements into use case specifications and communicates the specifications to the development teams, service delivery teams or service providers.

  • Works with the development teams or service providers through the development and testing phases to ensure the specifications are understood and standards are followed.

  • Monitors features implemented in production and publish metric around service usage and performance.Recommends changes for performance tuning purposes.



  • A four-year College Degree in Math, Computer Science or Information Systems is required.

  • 5+ years of experience working with Service Oriented Architecture is required.

  • Effectively communicate complex concepts to vendors, co-workers and management, both verbally and in writing.

  • Balance a self-motivated, independent work ethic with the desire to train and assist others.

  • Organization, prioritization, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are all crucial.

  • Innovative with a strong desire to learn and stay updated with new and upcoming technology.




  • Technical expertise in a broad range of application development tools, techniques, and platform architectures.

  • Expertise with programming languages like Java, Python, or NodeJS

  • Experience working with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins, Git-based version control, Nexus, and Gradle/Maven scripting.

  • Working experience with MuleSoft as the integration platform. Mule Developer Certification is required.

  • Good understanding of RAML specifications, TCP/IP and Security (SAML, OAuth2,…)
